Stretching After Sitting for Long Periods
Gentle movement breaks can help you change position and feel less stiff after sitting.
Long periods in one position can leave some people feeling stiff. Try standing up regularly, walking for a minute, rolling your shoulders gently, or reaching your arms overhead if comfortable.
Keep stretches gentle and avoid bouncing or pushing into pain. You can set a reminder to move between tasks or take calls while standing when practical. Small movement breaks are often easier to maintain than waiting for a long workout window.
If a movement causes pain, numbness, or worsening symptoms, stop and seek professional guidance when appropriate. Choose movements that suit your body and any existing instructions from your clinician.
